Company history

2019

From environmental technology to a quality brand for recycled materials.

Steinbeis PolyVert has decades of experience in plastics recycling. The company became part of Steinbeis Holding in 2019 – with the aim of strategically advancing resource-efficient plastics solutions.

2020

Expansion to include the Großenlüder site (DE)

In 2020, the acquisition of a further production site in Großenlüder (Germany) marked an important step in the expansion of the company’s PET expertise. Sebastian Meister, an experienced plastics recycler, was appointed as the new managing director of this plant.

2021

Change of name to Steinbeis PolyVert GmbH

Since 2021, the company has been trading under the name Steinbeis PolyVert GmbH.

2023

Commissioning of a new PET plant

The state-of-the-art PET plant represents a decisive step towards expanding our production capacity. It enables us to process post-consumer plastics even more efficiently and strengthens our expertise in PET recycling.

2024

Construction of a new PO sorting line

The installation of the new polyolefin (PO) sorting line marks another milestone in our technological development. Through precise material separation, we are laying the foundations for high-quality recycled PE and PP – with a focus on quality and sustainability.

What began as a regional recycling company is now a Europe-wide supplier of high-quality recycled materials – with a clear guiding principle: responsibility begins with quality.

At Steinbeis PolyVert, quality isn’t just something on the label – it’s the fundamental basis for everything we do. Our sites in Völkermarkt (Austria) and Großenlüder (Germany) are certified to ISO 9001 and therefore meet strict requirements for end-to-end quality management – from the receipt of raw materials to the dispatch of goods.

Furthermore, we are certified to ISO 14001 – the international standard for environmental management systems. This ensures that our processes are organised not only in a cost-effective manner, but also in a responsible one.

When assessing the recyclability of our products, we follow the standards set by RecyClass – a system recognised across Europe for classifying plastic packaging and recycled materials in terms of their recyclability, traceability and material purity. Many of our materials are already listed by RecyClass. This means they meet strict requirements regarding origin, quality and recyclability within the existing waste management system. The assessments are carried out by independent testing bodies and are based on established EU standards such as EN 15343 and ISO 22095.

In the field of sensitive end products – such as toys or cosmetics packaging – we are also developing recycled materials designed to meet the requirements of the new EU-wide CosPaTox testing standard. Here, we work closely with customers and partners to further develop particularly safe, low-toxicity material solutions.
